DBH1: exam on Tuesday

Here are a few things you might need to remember:

DBH2: exam on Tuesday

Here are a few things you might want to remember for your exam.

The use of the following verb tenses in affirmative, negative and interrogative sentences:
  • Present simple
  • Present continuous
  • Past simple
  • Present perfect (also present perfect with ever, never, just, yet, already... etc.)
  • Future tenses (will, going to, present continuous)
Comparison and contrast.

Irregular verbs.

Writing letters.

Time expressions: for, since, ago.

Must, mustn't, should, don't have to... etc.

DBH 2: Travel plan


For the next project, you have to imagine that you are going to make a trip and you have illimited money. Answer to the following questions, this time IN A PIECE OF PAPER. No copy-pasting, thank you very much.

a) The destination: Where are you going to go? (30-50 words) Decide on the destination or destinations of your trip, and explain why you have chosen it/them.

b) Company: Who are you going to travel with? (15-30 words). Are you going to go on your own? Are you going to go with friends, family...? Explain why you have chosen this particular company for this trip.

c) Means of transport: How are you going to travel? (20-40 words) Imagine that the starting point of the trip is your hometown (Oion, Logroño, Barriobusto). How are you going to get to your final destination or destinations? Why have you chosen them?

d) Accomodation: Where are you going to stay? (30-50 words) Decide if you are going to stay in a hotel, in a campsite, a caravan... What are the characteristics of this accomodation? (swimming pool, next to the beach, next to a ski station...)

e) The stay: How long are you going to stay? What are you going to do? (100-120 words) Are you going to visit any monuments? Are you going to do any sport activities, shopping? Etc. Make a day-by-day plan of your stay.

f) Any other information...

You'll get a total of 10 marks for the following:

2 marks for answering to all the questions with the minimum words.
3 marks for correct grammar (especially future tenses).
3 marks for correct use of vocabulary (and using the dictionary)
2 marks for correct presentation

DBH1 project: A film


You'll have to answer to these questions and more in your project:

  • What will the title of the film be?
  • Who will direct it?
  • Who will write it?
  • What will the story be about? (at least 50 words)
  • Who will the stars of the film be?
  • Where will you film it?
  • When will you film it?
  • How much will the film cost?
  • etc.
Deadline: April the 23rd
Presentations: April the 24th

DBH1: Evaluation criteria (exam on February the 27th)

A few things you should revise:

DBH2: A historical event

You have to choose a historical event of your choice and write a short presentation about it. (Some ideas: the discovery of America, the arrival of people to the moon, the French Revolution, the fall of the Roman Empire...)

You should answer to some of the following questions:
  • When did it happen?
  • Where did it happen?
  • Who are the main people responsible for it?
  • Why did it happen?
  • How did it happen?
  • What were the consequences?
  • Why is it important?
Deadline: your text should be finished before Friday the 13th

DBH 1 and DBH2: The exams are coming, the exams are coming!

A few things to remember...

DBH1: (December the 1st)
  • Can you write proper sentences in the present simple, past simple and present continuous tenses?
  • Do you know the irregular verbs?
  • Can you write a biography?
  • Do you know how to write the numbers and the dates?
  • Do you remember four different ways to express opinions?
  • Can you use the adverbs of frequency (always, never, sometimes...) correctly?
  • Do you remember the use of the prepositions of time (in, on, at...)?

Remember you're having an exam next Monday. Here are some things you might want to review:

Can you locate a country or city using the appropriate prepositions and expressions? Next to, on the coast, north, etc.

Can you compare and contrast two cities, countries, people...?

Can you write a text using appropriate forms of present simple, past simple or present continuous?

Do you remember the use of have and have got?

Can you use modals like can and could?

Can you transform a sentence from active to passive?

Do you remember the irregular verbs?


The exam will consist of a few grammar questions, two writing exercises and a short text to read.

DBH1: "To Do-s" list for the next week


There are a few things you have to do for the next week, so take note:

  • For Friday: remember to finish the exercises on the past simple.
  • You've started doing your presentations with David, remember you have to share them with me: Arantza, Uxue and Nerea's groups have already shared it, but where are the rest? I'll mark what you have to correct or change in red.
  • As we said in class, next week you'll do your irregular verbs test on Monday instead of Tuesday. The exam will consist on the first 20 verbs in your list.

REMEMBER oral presentations will take place next week, so start preparing yourselves for it. You shouldn't forget an oral presentation consists of speaking, not reading.

LH6: Pizza!

The students from LH6 have proved to be excellent chef apprentices today: they have cooked their own pizzas! They have experienced all the steps of cooking: writing the recipe, preparing the ingredients, cooking and washing up. After much spreading, chopping sprinkling and baking, the result couldn't be more delicious. Judge yourselves from the photos.

DBH 1: Song Presentation

The first project you have to do this year will be a song presentation. You are already in groups and some of you have chosen the song you are going to present:



  • Diego, Marcos, Javier: "Beautiful girl" by Sean Kingston.
  • Idoia Eguzkiza, Uxue, Patricia: "Mamma mia!" by ABBA.
  • Idris, Arantza, Idoia Marauri: "We will rock you" by Queen.
  • Gaspar, Asier, Ander: "I want candy" by Good Charlotte.
  • Aratz, Unai, Josu: "The Wall" by Pink Floyd.
  • Iñaki, Nerea: "All black" by Good Charlotte.

Objective:

To produce a written and oral presentation of a song, making reference to the group or singer's biography, song's genre, instruments, your opinion on the song... and any other information you consider interesting.

Deadline:

The written presentation should be finished by October the 17th. Oral presentations will take place the following week, we'll decide the order of presentations in class.

Format of written presentation:

You must write your information in a Google Docs presentation and share it with me when you start doing it.

Evaluation:

You will be evaluated on the following:

Written presentation:
  • Use of correct spelling and grammar.
  • Originality of work: not copy/pasting.
  • Originality and appearence of the presentation. You can use photographs, music, pictures, videos or anything you consider can help the presentation.
  • Quality (and quantity) of information.
Oral presentation:
  • You are expected to speak and not read in your oral presentation.

  • Fill in the gaps from Madonna's biography on page 36. Use the verbs from the list on page 34 IN THE SIMPLE PAST.
  • Put the biographies of John Lennon, Elvis and Bob Marley in order on page 31. Cut them out and paste them on page 30.
  • Post a comment at the "System of a down: ATWA" entry recommending us a song in English.
